Arvind Chauhan is the founder and lead educator at Braintree Coaching Australia, where he teaches selective entry and scholarship exam preparation to families across Sydney. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education, and has spent more than a decade preparing Year 5 to Year 7 students for the EduTest, ACER, NSW Selective, and Opportunity Class tests.
Background and teaching approach
Arvind began tutoring while completing his Master of Education, working one-to-one with students who found the jump from primary classwork to timed reasoning papers difficult. That experience shaped how he runs classes today: short, focused sessions built around real practice papers, with written feedback on every attempt rather than a single mark.
In his words, the goal is not to drill children until they are exhausted, but to help them recognise the question patterns that recur year after year — verbal reasoning analogies, abstract sequences, and the structured writing the markers reward.
What he teaches
- EduTest and ACER scholarship preparation for Year 5 and Year 7 entry.
- NSW Selective and Opportunity Class reasoning and written-expression coaching.
- Mock-exam analysis sessions, where students review their own papers question by question.
A note for parents
Arvind is candid that coaching is not right for every child, and that the selective test is one measure among many. When a family books a call, he will say plainly whether structured preparation is likely to help — and when a child is better served by waiting a year or focusing on classroom fundamentals first.
Arvind reviews and writes the exam-strategy guides published by Braintree Coaching Australia, and oversees the accuracy of every practice paper the team releases.
